Cliff’s 101 Tips for Health: Eat at least two serves of berries per day

Eat at least two fist-sized servings of berries every day

Berries are ‘nature’s multi-vitamin’. Berries are amongst the foods highest in antioxidants and are also lower in carbohydrates than fruit, so they can really help to increase the ‘nutrient density’ of our diet (crucial to an optimal and maintainable weight loss) while providing relatively few calories. Berries such as blueberries increase levels of antioxidants in the body that may reduce inflammation and oxidation related to premature ageing, insulin resistance and weight gain.32 Berries can also help the body to regulate blood sugar, which helps to preserve stable energy levels, improves brain function and fuel storage (i.e. in muscle as compared to fat stores).
